Oliver Kerrison, 1995, lives in Zurich. He graduated from the Universities of Lucerne and St.Gallen with majors in cultural studies, philosophy and organizational and management theory. Currently, he works as an Editor and Moderator at Radio SRF 4 News. In parallel, he contributes to projects related to culture and science.

Flooding the Urserntal?

Subject:

Analysing the discourse of negotiation concerning the gigantic, ultimately unrealized power plant project in the Swiss Ursern Valley (1920–1958). Key question: How do project proponents and opponents refer to “Heimat”—and what do they actually mean by it?

Historical study, submitted as a master’s thesis at the University of St.Gallen.

Subject:

Present and future of the Kunstmuseum St.Gallen. Focus of interest: the role the museum plays—or does not play in the local art scene.

Realisation:

Speaking with artists, patrons, collectors, galleries, politicians and employees. Concluded from 27 qualitative interviews: six thought-provoking ideas, 33 questions. Presented in an in-house publication, whose large format prevents it from sliding into a drawer.

Liebe Frau Mermet

Subject:

Exploring the letters of the Swiss author Robert Walser (1878-1956). Focusing on the correspondence between Walser and the ironer Frieda Mermet, which, along with a few interruptions, continued for more than three decades.

Realisation:

Study in cultural studies, written as a bachelor thesis at the University of Lucerne.

Subject:

Initiating the prospective conception of three parcels of land, located in Arbon, Switzerland. Thinking beyond the common mechanisms of the real estate market.

Realisation:

Elaboration of the publication “Die neue Bleiche, Teil eins”. Historical overview, evaluation of conflicting interests and interpretation of criteria for future progression over nine chapters. 

On top:

28 students keep on thinking. During a university module run by the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland under the guidance of sociologist Niklaus Reichle, the areal becomes a subject of discussion.
